To Strengthen Medicare, Pass Common Sense Immigration Reform

Would you support legislation that would add $202 billion to the Medicare trust fund in the next 20 years, without raising taxes or decreasing benefits by one penny? Eight months ago, the Senate passed a bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform bill (S. 744) that would do just that. If this legislation becomes law, it will strengthen Medicare by providing millions of undocumented workers with legal status and a pathway to citizenship.

LSR Policy Recommendations for the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program

WASHINGTON DC – The Latinos for a Secure Retirement coalition (LSR) has Together with theNational Senior Citizen Law Center (NSCLC), LSR is calling for needed updates to the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. “SSI has been a critical program to low-income Latinos for the past 40 years but needs to be strengthened,” stated Jeff Cruz, Executive Director of Latinos for a Secure Retirement, a coalition of ten leading national Latino organizations. “Outdated rules have put many poor seniors in peril.” For more information on the policy recommendations, click on the link on the top of the page.
