Executive Director

Jeff Cruz

Jeff Cruz is the Executive Director of Latinos for a Secure Retirement, a coalition of nine national Latino organizations formed to strengthen Social Security and increase pension access, and a Visiting Scholar at the National Academy of Social Insurance. Most recently, he served as an Associate Director at the White House Office of Public Engagement handling health care and seniors outreach. Before that, he was a Senior Policy Adviser to Wisconsin Senator Herb Kohl on the Senate Committee on Aging focusing on retirement security issues. In 2008, he took leave from the Senate to work for President Obama’s election campaign as the Deputy Director for Senior Outreach in the Chicago headquarters and then as the Florida State Seniors Vote Director.

Prior to this, Jeff was a senior policy analyst for Campaign for America's Future where he wrote several policy papers on Social Security and Medicare Part D that were released at events and featured in media across the country. Before that, he worked with LULAC and the Latinos for a Secure Retirement coalition to educate the Latino community on Social Security and the then newly created Medicare Part D enrollment process. In 2005, he worked for Americans United to Protect Social Security.

Jeff has also served in the House of Representative, working in the leadership office of then Chairman of the Democratic Caucus Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and as a Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (D-CA). He has worked on campaigns in more than a dozen states. Jeff Cruz is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a recently elected member of the National Academy of Social Insurance.
